HPA (High Pressure Air) and CO2 Tanks
SplatterPark fills both High Pressure Air (HPA) and CO2 tanks. One thing to keep in mind, is that the cylinders themselves have a lifespan of only 15 years from the date of manufacturing. Meaning, cylinders made in 2007, are considered "dead" and should NEVER be filled again. The cylinders also are required to be hydrotested every 5 years per DOT regulations. All tanks have a date of manufacture either on the side or on the top of the cylinder. If your tank is over 5 years old and has not been tested, we are NOT allowed to fill the tank as per DOT rules and regulations. Thankfully, you're able to drop off or send your tank to Punishers Paintball for testing, however, this process usually takes anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks for testing. Afterwards, your tank will be stamped with hydrostatic test date, and your tank will be good for another 5 years!
The cost to Hydrotest your tank with Punishers is $45+tax. Generally, when a CO2 or 3000psi HPA tank reaches the five year mark, it's better to recycle the tank and purchase a new one, as a new CO2 or 3000psi tank is about the same price or cheaper than testing the tank. You can recycle the tank at SplatterPark/Punishers PB and we will remove the valve and properly dispose of the cylinder.
Why does my tank need to be tested?
Since your tanks are holding anywhere from 800lbs to 4500lbs of pressure, it's very important that the tanks have no faults. We need to make sure the fibers in tanks are not unraveling, ensure there is no deep scratches or lacerations, etc.. As long as your tank meets all of the requirements, there should be no reason for your tank to fail the hydrostatic test.
